To address\nthis aim, 199 5\u20136-year-old children (96 boys, 103 girls) were\ninterviewed twice during kindergarten (fall and spring) about their\nown victimization experiences and peers' responses to\naggression. Observational ratings of children's victimization\nexperiences were used to examine the validity of the self-reported\nvictimization scores. Relations between response strategies and\nsubsequent victimization status were significant only for boys:\n\u201chaving a friend help\u201d was associated with reduced\nvictimization, whereas \u201cfighting back\u201d was related to\nstable victimization.
