In addition, the syntactic analysis of nominal compounds is very useful for \nNLP application such as information extraction, since a nominal compound often has a similar \nlinguistic structure with a simple sentence, as well as representing concrete and compound \nmeaning of an object with several nouns combined. In this paper, we present a novel model \nfor structural analysis of nominal compounds using linguistic and statistical knowledge which \nis coupled based on lexical information. That is, the syntactic relations defined between nouns \n(complement-predicate and modifier-head relation) are obtained from large corpora and again \nused to analyze the structures of nominal compounds and identify the underlying relations \nbetween nouns. Experiments show that the model gives good results, and can be effectively \nused for application systems which do not require deep semantic information.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1017\/s1351324901002686","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2002,7,27]],"date-time":"2002-07-27T13:16:36Z","timestamp":1027775796000},"page":"251-270","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["A corpus-based approach for Korean nominal \ncompound analysis based on linguistic and \nstatistical information"],"prefix":"10.1017","volume":"7","author":[{"given":"JUNTAE","family":"YOON","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"KEY-SUN","family":"CHOI","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"MANSUK","family":"SONG","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"56","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2001,8,29]]},"container-title":["Natural Language Engineering"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/services\/aop-cambridge-core\/content\/view\/S1351324901002686","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2019,3,31]],"date-time":"2019-03-31T19:34:05Z","timestamp":1554060845000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/product\/identifier\/S1351324901002686\/type\/journal_article"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2001,8,29]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"3","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2001,9]]}},"alternative-id":["S1351324901002686"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1017\/s1351324901002686","relation":{},"ISSN":["1351-3249","1469-8110"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1351-3249","type":"print"},{"value":"1469-8110","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2001,8,29]]}}}
