Lang. Eng."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1996,12]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>This paper describes the key aspects of a parser developed at \nthe University of Pennsylvania \nfrom 1958 to 1959. The parser is essentially a cascade of finite \nstate transducers. To the best \nof our knowledge, this is the first application of finite state \ntransducers to parsing.
