{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,1,28]],"date-time":"2026-01-28T00:07:08Z","timestamp":1769558828482,"version":"3.49.0"},"reference-count":31,"publisher":"Cambridge University Press (CUP)","issue":"2","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2009,2,1]],"date-time":"2009-02-01T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1233446400000},"content-version":"unspecified","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/terms"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Public Health Nutr."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2009,2]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:sec id=\"S1368980008002930_abs1\" sec-type=\"general\"><jats:title>Objectives<\/jats:title><jats:p>To investigate whether fruit and vegetable (F&amp;V) intake in 11-year-olds, and social\u2013environmental correlates of F&amp;V intake such as parental modelling and encouragement, family food rules and home availability, differ according to general parenting styles in Belgium, The Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980008002930_abs2\" sec-type=\"general\"><jats:title>Design<\/jats:title><jats:p>Cross-sectional study.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980008002930_abs3\" sec-type=\"general\"><jats:title>Setting<\/jats:title><jats:p>Primary schools in four countries.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980008002930_abs4\" sec-type=\"subjects\"><jats:title>Subjects<\/jats:title><jats:p>Pupils and one of their parents completed questionnaires to measure F&amp;V intake, related social\u2013environmental correlates and general parenting styles. The sample size was 4555 (49\u00b73 % boys); 1180 for Belgium, 883 for The Netherlands, 1515 for Portugal and 977 for Spain. Parenting styles were divided into authoritative, authoritarian, indulgent and neglectful.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980008002930_abs5\" sec-type=\"results\"><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p>No differences were found in F&amp;V intake across parenting styles and only very few significant differences in social\u2013environmental correlates.
