{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,5,1]],"date-time":"2026-05-01T13:56:09Z","timestamp":1777643769230,"version":"3.51.4"},"reference-count":72,"publisher":"Cambridge University Press (CUP)","issue":"14","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2018,5,17]],"date-time":"2018-05-17T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1526515200000},"content-version":"unspecified","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/terms"}],"content-domain":{"domain":["www.cambridge.org"],"crossmark-restriction":true},"short-container-title":["Public Health Nutr."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2018,10]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:sec id=\"S1368980018001234_abs1\" sec-type=\"general\"><jats:title>Objective<\/jats:title><jats:p>The present study explored associations between food choice motives, attitudes towards and intention to adopt personalised nutrition, to inform communication strategies based on consumer priorities and concerns.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980018001234_abs2\" sec-type=\"general\"><jats:title>Design\/Setting<\/jats:title><jats:p>A survey was administered online which included the Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ) and items assessing attitudes towards and intention to adopt personalised nutrition.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980018001234_abs3\" sec-type=\"subjects\"><jats:title>Subjects<\/jats:title><jats:p>Nationally representative samples were recruited in nine EU countries (<jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic>9381).<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980018001234_abs4\" sec-type=\"results\"><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p>Structural equation modelling indicated that the food choice motives \u2018weight control\u2019, \u2018mood\u2019, \u2018health\u2019 and \u2018ethical concern\u2019 had a positive association and \u2018price\u2019 had a negative association with attitude towards, and intention to adopt, personalised nutrition. \u2018Health\u2019 was positively associated and \u2018familiarity\u2019 negatively associated with attitude towards personalised nutrition. The effects of \u2018weight control\u2019, \u2018ethical concern\u2019, \u2018mood\u2019 and \u2018price\u2019 on intention to adopt personalised nutrition were partially mediated by attitude.
