Two non-consecutive 24-h dietary recalls (24-HDR) were applied, and a 24-h urine sample was collected. We examined differences between estimates from dietary and urine measures, Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated and the Bland\u2013Altman plots were drawn. Multiple linear regression was used to evaluate the factors associated with the difference between estimates.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980020001044_as3\"><jats:title>Setting:<\/jats:title><jats:p>Sub-sample from the Portuguese IAN-AF sampling frame.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980020001044_as4\"><jats:title>Participants:<\/jats:title><jats:p>Ninety-five adults (men and women) aged 18\u201384 years.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec id=\"S1368980020001044_as5\"><jats:title>Results:<\/jats:title><jats:p>The estimated intake calculated using the dietary recall data was lower than that estimated from urinary excretion for the three biomarkers studied (protein 94\u00b73 <jats:italic>v<\/jats:italic>. 100\u00b74 g\/d, K 3212 <jats:italic>v<\/jats:italic>. 3416 mg\/d and Na 3489 <jats:italic>v<\/jats:italic>. 4003 mg\/d). Considering 2 d of recall, the deattenuated correlation coefficients were 0\u00b733, 0\u00b764 and 0\u00b726 for protein, K and Na, respectively. For protein, differences between dietary and urinary estimates varied according to BMI (<jats:italic>\u03b2<\/jats:italic> = \u22121\u00b796, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic> = 0\u00b7017). The energy intake and 24-h urine volume were significantly associated with the difference between estimates for protein (<jats:italic>\u03b2<\/jats:italic> = 0\u00b703, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic> &lt; 0\u00b7001 and <jats:italic>\u03b2<\/jats:italic> = \u22120\u00b702, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic> = 0\u00b7002, respectively), K (<jats:italic>\u03b2<\/jats:italic> = 0\u00b771, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic> &lt; 0\u00b7001 and <jats:italic>\u03b2<\/jats:italic> = \u22120\u00b742, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic> = 0\u00b7040, respectively) and Na (<jats:italic>\u03b2<\/jats:italic> = 1\u00b755, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic> &lt; 0\u00b7001 and <jats:italic>\u03b2<\/jats:italic> = \u22120\u00b781, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic> = 0\u00b7011, lesser so in estimating Na intake, using two non-consecutive
