Res."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1996,5]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>Analysis of magnetospheric Pc 1 and Pc 2 (in brief Pc 1\u20132) pulsations at a network of six northern hemisphere stations at latitudes 65\u00b0\u201376\u00b0 CGM shows that their average frequency decreases with increasing latitude of the station. Their maximum occurrence is at L=6\u20139 and 1200\u20131600 LT. The ionospheric ducting is weak for f &lt; 0.3 Hz. Occasionally the Pc 1 intensity at a station is modulated by a simultaneously arriving quasi\u2010periodic Pc 4\u20135 signal. A mechanism for generating micropulsations which is common to both high\u2010frequency and low\u2010frequency waves is presented and discussed, the proposed mechansim being that a broadband signal from the solar wind is amplified in the magnetosphere in the frequency bands of the field line resonance (Pc 4\u20135) and in the He<jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup> cyclotron frequency (Pc 1\u20132) range.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1029\/95ja03770","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2004,2,3]],"date-time":"2004-02-03T22:53:29Z","timestamp":1075848809000},"page":"10965-10973","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":28,"title":["Pc 1\u20132 and Pc 4\u20135 pulsations observed at a network of high\u2010latitude stations"],"prefix":"10.1029","volume":"101","author":[{"given":"T.
