While many fear that AI will disrupt jobs and the physician\u2013patient relationship, we believe that AI can eliminate many repetitive tasks to clear the way for human-to-human bonding and the application of emotional intelligence and judgment. We review several recent studies of AI applications in healthcare that provide a view of a future where healthcare delivery is a more unified, human experience.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1038\/s41746-017-0012-2","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,1,5]],"date-time":"2018-01-05T16:04:54Z","timestamp":1515168294000},"update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1007\/springer_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":357,"title":["Artificial intelligence powers digital medicine"],"prefix":"10.1038","volume":"1","author":[{"given":"Alexander L.","family":"Fogel","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Joseph C.","family":"Kvedar","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"297","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2018,3,14]]},"reference":[{"key":"12_CR1","unstructured":"Stanford University.
