Although originally liposomes were solely made of natural lipids, today they can incorporate both natural and\/or synthetic lipids, as well as other components, such as surfactants, which have the ability to make them more stable, elastic, and overall versatile. Given these features, since their first discovery in the 1960s, liposomes have been used in various fields, including to help deliver molecules to the body for therapeutical or nutritional purposes.
