In the present chapter, various electrochemical sensing applications of nanomaterials and their alloys, and methods of fabrication and activation of their surfaces are discussed. Nanomaterials and their alloys can be used to increase the mobility of the charge carriers and can find applications in a variety of sensing platforms. Carbon-based nanomaterials and their alloys such as carbon quantum dots and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), including multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), are used for different advanced sensing applications. This chapter also covers the basic operation of electrochemical sensors and the application of software. It also focuses on the advanced fabrication technologies involved in fabricating MWCNTs and their alloys. Nitrides and carbonitrides have synergistic electrochemical sensor applications when incorporated into metal oxide structures. This chapter will also elucidate the effect of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and their alloys in electrochemical sensing applications and the role of metal and metal oxide nanocomposites and alloys for the electrochemical detection of glucose.
