                    A novel synthetic strategy for the preparation of quinacridone derivatives with extended conjugation in central aromatic core is proposed allowing for fine tuning of their electronic properties. Two new quinacridone derivatives with carbazole (
                    <bold>1</bold>
                    ) and naphthalene (
                    <bold>2</bold>
                    ) core are described, which are excellent candidates for optoelectronic applications as evidenced by their electrochemically determined redox properties combined with strong photoluminescence (the fluorescence quantum yield of 0.83 and the radiative rate constant of 90.2 × 10
