A violation of this relation would rule out the standard cosmological paradigm and point to the presence of new physics.<\/jats:p>\n<jats:p><jats:italic>Aims.<\/jats:italic> We quantify the ability of <jats:italic>Euclid<\/jats:italic>, in combination with contemporary surveys, to improve the current constraints on deviations from the DDR in the redshift range 0\u2004&lt; \u2004<jats:italic>z<\/jats:italic>\u2004&lt; \u20041.6.<\/jats:p>\n<jats:p><jats:italic>Methods.<\/jats:italic> We start with an analysis of the latest available data, improving previously reported constraints by a factor of 2.5. We then present a detailed analysis of simulated <jats:italic>Euclid<\/jats:italic> and external data products, using both standard parametric methods (relying on phenomenological descriptions of possible DDR violations) and a machine learning reconstruction using genetic algorithms.<\/jats:p>\n<jats:p><jats:italic>Results.<\/jats:italic> We find that for parametric methods <jats:italic>Euclid<\/jats:italic> can (in combination with external probes) improve current constraints by approximately a factor of six, while for non-parametric methods <jats:italic>Euclid<\/jats:italic> can improve current constraints by a factor of three.<\/jats:p>\n<jats:p><jats:italic>Conclusions.<\/jats:italic> Our results highlight the importance of surveys like <jats:italic>Euclid<\/jats:italic> in accurately testing the pillars of the current cosmological paradigm and constraining physics beyond the standard cosmological model.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1051\/0004-6361\/202039078","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,10,13]],"date-time":"2020-10-13T10:27:13Z","timestamp":1602584833000},"page":"A80","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":66,"title":["<i>Euclid<\/i>: Forecast constraints on the cosmic distance duality relation with complementary external probes"],"prefix":"10.1051","volume":"644","author":[{"given":"M.","family":"Martinelli","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"C.
