The number of people living with a diagnosis of\ncolorectal cancer is thus expected to rise. Yet even after successful\ntreatment, colorectal cancer survivors, mostly the elderly, frequently\nexperience health problems and impaired health-related quality of life. We\ninvestigated the cross-sectional association between physical fitness,\nmeasured with the 6-min walk test, 30-second chair-stand test, and isometric\nhandgrip strength, as well as health-related quality of life, in a cohort of\ncolorectal cancer patients (n=71, mean [SD] age 67\u00b110 years,\n63% men; 35, 39 and 25% in stages I, II and III,\nrespectively). Greater performance in the 6-minute walk test and 30-second\nchair-stand test was associated with higher levels of global health status\n(p<0.001, p=0.001 respectively), higher functioning\n(p<0.001) and lower levels of symptomatology (p<0.001; pain\nand fatigue). Additionally, greater 6-min walk test performance was\nassociated with a better cognitive function (p=0.005). Our results\nsuggest that greater aerobic fitness and lower-extremity muscle strength are\ncross-sectionally associated with higher levels of global health status,\nhigher functioning and lower levels of symptomatology such as pain and\nfatigue in colorectal cancer patients.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1055\/a-1342-7347","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,2,26]],"date-time":"2021-02-26T01:06:28Z","timestamp":1614301588000},"page":"924-929","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":14,"title":["Physical
