Thirty-one triathletes and open water swimmers\n                    performed two 400\u2009m front crawl bouts in a 25\u2009m swimming pool\n                    with swim and wetsuits (with 48\u2009h rest in-between). Anthropometric,\n                    kinematic and physiological variables were measured and Pearson correlation\n                    coefficients and stepwise linear regression analysis were used to determine\n                    their relationships. Associations observed in the 400\u2009m front crawl\n                    included time improved using wetsuit with swimmers age (r=0.38;\n                    p=0.017), cross-sectional area (r=0.33;\n                    p=0.034), wetsuit upper limbs thickness (r=\u20130.49;\n                        p=0.010), \u0394International Swimming Federation Points\n                        (r=\u20130.39;p=0.016), \u0394stroke rate (SR,\n                    r=0.48; p=0.003), \u0394stroke length (SL,\n                    r=-0.39; p=0.015), \u0394propelling efficiency\n                    (r=\u20130.37; p=0.019) and \u0394blood lactate\n                    concentrations (r=0.30; p=0.048) in the total sample. In\n                    females, associations were found between the time improved and wetsuit upper and\n                    lower limbs thickness (both r=\u20130.78; p=0.011),\n                    and in males associations were found between time improved and age\n                    (r=0.43; p=0.030), \u0394SR (r=0.56;\n                    p=0.005) and \u0394SL (r=\u20130.44;\n                    p=0.026). Furthermore, 48% of the 400\u2009m front crawl\n                    time improved was explained by wetsuit upper limbs thickness and SR changes\n                    (total sample), 62% explained by the wetsuit lower limbs thickness\n                    (females) and 48% of this enhancement was related to age and SR changes\n                    (males).
