{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,10]],"date-time":"2025-10-10T12:57:46Z","timestamp":1760101066508},"reference-count":0,"publisher":"Georg Thieme Verlag KG","issue":"02","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Amer J Perinatol"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2019,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>\n            Introduction\u2003It is not yet fully known whether hypertensive disorders (HTD) during pregnancy impose an increased risk of development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm newborn infants.<\/jats:p><jats:p>\n            Objective\u2003To test the hypothesis that preeclampsia and other HTD are associated with the development of BPD in preterm infants.<\/jats:p><jats:p>\n            Materials and Methods\u2003Data on mothers and preterm infants with gestational age 24 to 30 weeks were prospectively analyzed in 11 Portuguese level III centers. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS statistics 23.<\/jats:p><jats:p>\n            Results\u2003A total of 494 preterm infants from 410 mothers were enrolled, and 119 (28%) of the 425 babies, still alive at 36 weeks, developed BPD. The association between chronic arterial hypertension, chronic arterial hypertension with superimposed preeclampsia, and gestational hypertension in mothers and BPD in preterm infants was not significant (p\u2009=\u20090.115; p\u2009=\u20090.248; p\u2009=\u20090.060, respectively). The association between preeclampsia\u2013eclampsia and BPD was significant (p\u2009=\u20090.007).
