{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,3,14]],"date-time":"2026-03-14T14:25:12Z","timestamp":1773498312278,"version":"3.50.1"},"reference-count":29,"publisher":"AIP Publishing","issue":"10","content-domain":{"domain":["pubs.aip.org"],"crossmark-restriction":true},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2015,3,14]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>We have studied the magnetic entropy change of highly ordered La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 nanotube arrays synthesized by template assisted sol-gel method in temperatures ranging from 179 to 293\u2009K and in magnetic fields up to 5\u2009T. From the measurements of isothermal magnetization, we have calculated the maximum isothermal magnetic entropy change of \u2212\u25b3SM\u2009=\u20091.9\u2009J\/kg\u2009K around the Curie temperature at 236\u2009K for a field of 5\u2009T. The nanotubes present lower magnetic entropy change compared with their bulk counterpart (\u2212\u25b3SM\u2009=\u20094.8\u2009J\/kg\u2009K) which was prepared by the same sol-gel route. Such diminished magnetic entropy change observed in nanotubes is explained by the disordered magnetic states which are created on the surface sites of nanograins due to the larger surface to volume ratio.
