It is therefore\n\t\t\t\t\t\tadvantageous to know about sound correspondences, and applying sound\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcorrespondence \u2018rules\u2019 is thought to be one of the major strategies in\n\t\t\t\t\t\tInterscandinavian decoding. How speakers analyse, acquire and utilize such\n\t\t\t\t\t\tphonological patterns has not been investigated so far, however \u2013 neither\n\t\t\t\t\t\ttheoretically nor empirically. Using example correspondences between Danish\n\t\t\t\t\t\tand Swedish, the chapter illustrates how the acquisition of sound\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcorrespondence rules could look like from a Construction Grammar\n\t\t\t\t\t\tperspective, more precisely, from the perspective of Diasystematic\n\t\t\t\t\t\tConstruction Grammar (<jats:xref>H\u00f6der,\n\t\t\t\t\t\t2018<\/jats:xref>). It models knowledge about sound correspondences as a\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcombination of two language-specific constructions and one cross-linguistic\n\t\t\t\t\t\tlanguage-unspecific construction capturing the equivalence relation between\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthe two language-specific ones. Besides specific sound correspondence\n\t\t\t\t\t\tconstructions, also the acquisition of more abstract constructions\n\t\t\t\t\t\tpresenting a generalization over several specific correspondences is\n\t\t\t\t\t\tillustrated.
