The maximum size and range of a counterintuitive advantage associated with recognition\u2010based judgment (the \u201cless\u2010is\u2010more effect\u201d) is identified for a range of cue validity values. Greater ranges of the less\u2010is\u2010more effect occur when participants are asked which is the greatest of <jats:italic>m<\/jats:italic> choices (<jats:italic>m<\/jats:italic> &gt; 2) than which is the least. Less\u2010is\u2010more effects also have greater range for larger values of <jats:italic>m<\/jats:italic>.
