The responses to chemical stimuli of group 1 (CaCl2, NaCl, distilled water, D-galactose, and L-threonine) applied to the tongue surface were greatly decreased by a decrease in Ca2+ concentration in the perfusing solution, suppressed by the Ca-channel blockers, enhanced by cGMP, and suppressed by cAMP. The responses to chemical stimuli of group 2 (quinine hydrochloride, theophylline, ethanol, and HCl) were practically not affected by a decrease in Ca2+ concentration, the Ca-channel blockers, cGMP, and cAMP. The responses to the stimuli of group 1 seem to be induced by Ca influx into a taste cell that is triggered by depolarization and modulated by the cyclic nucleotides in a taste cell. The responses to group 2 seem to be induced without accompanying Ca influx.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1085\/jgp.80.5.785","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2004,5,13]],"date-time":"2004-05-13T23:16:46Z","timestamp":1084490206000},"page":"785-800","update-policy":"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1085\/jgp.crossmarkpolicy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":14,"title":["Effect of Ca2+, cyclic GMP, and cyclic AMP added to artificial solution perfusing lingual artery on frog gustatory nerve responses."],"prefix":"10.1085","volume":"80","author":[{"given":"S","family":"Nagahama","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Y","family":"Kobatake","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"K","family":"Kurihara","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"291","published-online":{"date-parts":[[1982,11,1]]},"container-title":["The Journal of general physiology"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/rupress.org\/jgp\/article-pdf\/80\/5\/785\/1812333\/785.pdf","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"syndication"},{"URL":"https:\/\/rupress.org\/jgp\/article-pdf\/80\/5\/785\/1812333\/785.pdf","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,7,27]],"date-time":"2023-07-27T12:08:20Z","timestamp":1690459700000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/rupress.org\/jgp\/article\/80\/5\/785\/27198\/Effect-of-Ca2-cyclic-GMP-and-cyclic-AMP-added-to"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[1982,11,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"5","published-print":{"date-parts":[[1982,11,1]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1085\/jgp.80.5.785","relation":{},"ISSN":["0022-1295","1540-7748"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0022-1295","type":"print"},{"value":"1540-7748","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[1982,11,1]]}}}
