Phys. D: Appl. Phys."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2011,8,10]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>This work reports the effect of lithium doping on the dielectric and polar properties of potassium tantalate. Experimental data were obtained in K<jats:sub>1\u2212<jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic>\n                  <\/jats:sub>Li<jats:sub>\n                     <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic>\n                  <\/jats:sub>TaO<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub> ceramics with <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic> = 0, 0.02, 0.05 and 0.10 by measuring both the dielectric permittivity from 10<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup> to 10<jats:sup>8<\/jats:sup>\u2009Hz, and polarization under an ac electric field driven at 2.5\u2009Hz, for temperatures from 10 to 300\u2009K. The dielectric permittivity exhibits all the relaxations reported for K<jats:sub>1\u2212<jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic>\n                  <\/jats:sub>Li<jats:sub>\n                     <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic>\n                  <\/jats:sub>TaO<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub> single crystals. Two dielectric relaxations observed at 40\u2013125\u2009K are ascribed to the individual hopping by 90\u00b0 and 180\u00b0 of dipoles created by the off-centre Li ions. Another relaxation observed at 100\u2013200\u2009K is related to 180\u00b0-flips of Li pairs for <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic> = 0.02 and of polar clusters of interacting Li ions for <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic> = 0.05 and 0.10. In addition to that, an additional relaxation not reported before is presented at 135\u2013235\u2009K for <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic> = 0.10 and attributed to 90\u00b0-reorientation of Li polar clusters.
