Fusion"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2020,2,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title>\n                  <jats:p>\n                    We investigate the effect of laser polarization on spatial and momentum distribution of back-reflected\n                    <jats:italic>e<\/jats:italic>\n                    <jats:sup>\u2212<\/jats:sup>\n                    <jats:italic>e<\/jats:italic>\n                    <jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup>\n                    pairs from the collision of an intense laser pulse (\n                    <jats:italic>I<\/jats:italic>\n                    \u00a0=\u00a05\u00a0\u00d7\u00a010\n                    <jats:sup>22<\/jats:sup>\n                    W cm\n                    <jats:sup>\u22122<\/jats:sup>\n                    ) with a counter-propagating 5 GeV electron beam. During the pair production, a significant amount of particles (10\n                    <jats:sup>6<\/jats:sup>\n                    \u201310\n                    <jats:sup>7<\/jats:sup>\n                    ) are ejected in the opposite direction of the incoming electron beam (back-reflected), they are trapped by and co-propagate with the laser beam, gaining energy up to the GeV level. From our multi-dimensional particle-in-cell studies, we observe that laser polarization affects the angular distribution of these particles: a linearly polarized pulse produces two transversely separated particle jets, while a circular one leads to the formation of a radially symmetric cone-shaped emission.
