Due to their peculiar geodesic structure we show that these images exhibit striking similarities with the ones of BHs, for appropriately chosen disk intensity profile, when imposing a GRMHD-motivated emission cut off. Additionally, and unlike the non-rotating case, these similarities prevail even when considering equatorial observations. This example illustrates how a horizonless compact object without light rings, with a plausible formation mechanism and dynamically robust, could mimic detailed features of black hole imagiology.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1088\/1475-7516\/2024\/05\/054","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,5,9]],"date-time":"2024-05-09T14:26:45Z","timestamp":1715264805000},"page":"054","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1088\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":20,"title":["The imitation game reloaded: effective shadows of dynamically robust spinning Proca stars"],"prefix":"10.1088","volume":"2024","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-7025-1361","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Ivo","family":"Sengo","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-8375-6943","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Pedro V.P.","family":"Cunha","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9619-2013","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Carlos A.R.","family":"Herdeiro","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-0503-896X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Eugen","family":"Radu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"266","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2024,5,9]]},"reference":[{"key":"bc42ea1bb616ad90c53b5dc2cc5104b77","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","first-page":"L1","DOI":"10.3847\/2041-8213\/ab0ec7","article-title":"First M87 Event Horizon Telescope Results.
