Sci."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2025,11,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title>\n                  <jats:p>The building sector plays a key role in the transition toward climate neutrality, particularly through deep renovations that significantly reduce operational energy demand. However, current renovation practices often neglect life cycle considerations, such as embodied impacts and end-of-life scenarios. This paper explores the integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into the concept of Renovation Passports (RPs), offering a more holistic framework to support sustainable and circular building renovations. Using a representative case study of a multifamily building in Southern Europe, various renovation scenarios were simulated with the One Click LCA tool, assessing both operational and embodied carbon across a 60-year time horizon. The results reveal that incorporating LCA into RPs enables more informed trade-offs between energy performance and environmental impact, particularly when selecting between materials and interventions. The findings support the development of dynamic, digital, and circular-oriented RPs, aligned with the EU Renovation Wave and EPBD revision.
