This can reduce the time complexity to get a linear system of equations for specified intermediate state bits, which is general to cryptanalysis of some ciphers with update function of low algebraic degree. Along this line, we perform an interpolation attack against Elephant-Delirium, a round 2 submission of the ongoing national institute of standards and technology (NIST) lightweight cryptography project. This is the first third-party cryptanalysis on this cipher. Moreover, we promote the interpolation attack by applying it to the Farfalle pseudo-random constructions Kravatte and Xoofff. Our attacks turn out to be the most efficient method for these ciphers thus far.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1093\/comjnl\/bxaa101","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,7,7]],"date-time":"2020-07-07T11:09:31Z","timestamp":1594120171000},"page":"628-638","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["Interpolation Attacks on Round-Reduced Elephant, Kravatte and Xoofff"],"prefix":"10.1093","volume":"64","author":[{"given":"Haibo","family":"Zhou","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Key Laboratory of Cryptologic Technology and Information Security, Ministry of Education, Shandong University, Qingdao 266237, China"},{"name":"School of Cyber Science and Technology, Shandong University, Qingdao 266237, China"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Rui","family":"Zong","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute for Advanced Study, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Xiaoyang","family":"Dong","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute for Advanced Study, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Keting","family":"Jia","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Science and Technology\/ BNRist, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Willi","family":"Meier","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"FHNW, Switzerland"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"286","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,8,5]]},"reference":[{"key":"2021041913135058700_ref1","article-title":"Solicit, evaluate, and standardize lightweight cryptographic algorithm","author":"NIST","year":"2015"},{"key":"2021041913135058700_ref2","article-title":"Elephant v1","volume-title":"NIST Lightweight Cryptography Project","author":"Beyne","year":"2019"},{"key":"2021041913135058700_ref3","first-page":"1","article-title":"Farfalle: Parallel Permutation-Based Cryptography","volume-title":"FSE 2018","author":"Bertoni","year":"2018"},{"key":"2021041913135058700_ref4","first-page":"1","article-title":"The Design of Xoodoo And Xoofff","volume-title":"FSE 2019","author":"Daemen","year":"2019"},{"key":"2021041913135058700_ref10","first-page":"535","article-title":"Optimized Interpolation Attacks on LowMC","volume-title":"ASIACRYPT 2015, Auckland, New Zealand, November 29 to December 3","author":"Dinur","year":"2015"},{"key":"2021041913135058700_ref5","first-page":"5","article-title":"Key-Recovery Attacks on Full Kravatte","volume-title":"FSE 2018","author":"Chaigneau","year":"2018"},{"key":"2021041913135058700_ref6","article-title":"Keccak Sponge Function Family Main Document.
