Unfortunately, most individuals and researchers are unaware of the health risks posed by a particular well due to the diversity of chemical ingredients used across sites. We constructed WellExplorer (http:\/\/WellExplorer.org), an interactive tool for researchers and community members to use for retrieving information regarding the hormonal, testosterone and estrogen modulators located at each well. We found that wells in Alabama use a disproportionately high number of ingredients targeting estrogen pathways, while Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania use a disproportionately high number of ingredients targeting testosterone pathways. Researchers can utilize WellExplorer to study health outcomes related to exposure to fracturing chemicals in their population-based cohorts. Community members can use this resource to search their home or work locations (e.g. town or zip code) to determine proximity between where they live or work and specific hormonal exposures.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1093\/database\/baaa053","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,6,25]],"date-time":"2020-06-25T11:19:04Z","timestamp":1593083944000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["WellExplorer: an integrative resource linking hydraulic fracturing chemicals with hormonal pathways and geographic location"],"prefix":"10.1093","volume":"2020","author":[{"given":"Owen","family":"Wetherbee","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"}]},{"given":"Jessica R","family":"Meeker","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"},{"name":"Center for Excellence in Environmental Toxicology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"}]},{"given":"Caroline","family":"DeVoto","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"}]},{"given":"Trevor M","family":"Penning","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Center for Excellence in Environmental Toxicology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"},{"name":"Department of Systems Pharmacology & Translational Therapeutics, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA"}]},{"given":"Jason H","family":"Moore","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"},{"name":"Institute for Biomedical Informatics, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"}]},{"given":"Mary Regina","family":"Boland","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, 19104"},{"name":"Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics, Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia, PA, USA 19104"}]}],"member":"286","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,7,23]]},"reference":[{"key":"2020072307364039700_ref1","article-title":"A review of fracturing fluid systems used for hydraulic fracturing of oil and gas wells","volume":"131","author":"Barati","year":"2014","journal-title":"J.
