Metanephrine and normetanephrine concentrations were measured in urine (U-MN\/NMN) and plasma (P-MN\/NMN) by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Data were correlated with biomarkers of kidney function measured in the same time-point sample.<\/jats:p>\n                  <\/jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Results<\/jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>The CKD group had significantly higher P-NMN (median, 14.20; min-max, 5.65-34.09\u00a0nmol\/L) than the HC group (7.03; 5.19-13.03\u00a0nmol\/L). P-MN concentrations correlated with the urinary protein-creatinine ratio (UPCR) (r\u00a0=\u00a00.528, P\u00a0=\u00a0.017). P-NMN correlated with symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) (r\u00a0=\u00a00.604, P\u00a0=\u00a0.006), serum creatinine (r\u00a0=\u00a00.488, P\u00a0=\u00a0.029) and UPCR (r\u00a0=\u00a00.445, P\u00a0=\u00a0.049). U-MN:urine creatinine concentration (UCreat) ratio correlated with UPCR (r\u00a0=\u00a00.683, P\u00a0&amp;lt;\u00a0.001) and urine specific gravity (r\u00a0=\u00a0-0.397), P\u00a0&amp;lt;\u00a0.001). U-NMN:UCreat ratio correlated with SDMA (r\u00a0=\u00a00.558, P\u00a0=\u00a0.007), serum phosphate (r\u00a0=\u00a00.561, P\u00a0=\u00a0.005) and UPCR (r\u00a0=\u00a00.494,
