In some countries, reporting domestic violence is mandatory, which means that anyone not only \u2018can\u2019 but also \u2018must\u2019 file a report, which is enough to progress the criminal proceedings, even against the victim\u2019s will. This article provides an overview about the importance of the clinicians\u2019 duty of care, debating whether or not domestic violence should be a public crime.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Methods<\/jats:title><jats:p>A narrative review on the subject of mandatory reporting of domestic violence, conducting a search of PubMed.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p>Twenty studies were retrieved. Commonly victims agree with mandatory reporting.
