{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,8,15]],"date-time":"2025-08-15T00:12:57Z","timestamp":1755216777666,"version":"3.43.0"},"reference-count":19,"publisher":"Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health)","issue":"11","content-domain":{"domain":["lww.com","ovid.com"],"crossmark-restriction":true},"short-container-title":["J Occup Environ Med"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2024,11]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Background<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>The primary objective of this study was to explore the viewpoints held by employees at a pharmaceutical manufacturing workplace in a middle-income country regarding management's role in promoting health behaviors in the workplace.<\/jats:p>\n          <\/jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Methods<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>This study used transcripts of focus group discussion from an original study that investigated employee perceptions of factors associated with healthy behaviors among South African pharmaceutical manufacturing factory workers.<\/jats:p>\n          <\/jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Results<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>Participants felt that workplace managers could improve capability through health promotion strategies, supportive leadership, and promoting a culture of health. They could provide opportunity through employee engagement programs and resources, and physical activity opportunities were specifically identified.<\/jats:p>\n          <\/jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Conclusions<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>This study demonstrates that managers in a middle-income country have the potential to contribute to workplace health in a range of ways that include addressing capability, opportunity, and motivation of their workers.<\/jats:p>\n
