{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,6,8]],"date-time":"2025-06-08T18:22:49Z","timestamp":1749406969821},"reference-count":41,"publisher":"Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health)","issue":"1","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2017,1,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Objective:<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>To estimate HIV incidence in the United States using a newly developed method.<\/jats:p>\n          <\/jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Methods:<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>The analysis period (2002\u20132011) was broken down into 3-year periods with overlaps, and HIV incidence was estimated based on the relationship between number of new diagnoses and HIV incidence in each of these 3-year periods, by assuming that all HIV infections would eventually be diagnosed and within each 3-year period HIV incidence and case finding were stable.<\/jats:p>\n          <\/jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Results:<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>The estimated HIV incidence in the United States decreased from 52,721 (range: 47,449\u201357,993) in 2003 to 39,651 (range: 35,686\u201343,617) in 2010, among males from 38,164 (range: 35,051\u201342,840) to 33,035 (range: 29,088\u201335,553), and among females from 13,557 (range: 12,133\u201314,830) to 6616 (range: 5825 to 7120).<\/jats:p>\n          <\/jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Conclusions:<\/jats:title>\n            <jats:p>Using a simple and novel method based on the number of new HIV diagnoses, we were able to estimate HIV incidence and report a declining trend in HIV incidence in the United States since 2003.<\/jats:p>\n          <\/jats:sec>","DOI":"10.1097\/qai.0000000000001185","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2016,9,20]],"date-time":"2016-09-20T11:01:42Z","timestamp":1474369302000},"page":"10-14","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["Estimated HIV Incidence in the United States, 2003\u20132010"],"prefix":"10.1097","volume":"74","author":[{"given":"Qiang","family":"Xia","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"HIV Epidemiology and Field Services Program, The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Bureau of HIV Prevention and Control, New York City, NY;
