{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,4,30]],"date-time":"2026-04-30T03:01:33Z","timestamp":1777518093701,"version":"3.51.4"},"reference-count":46,"publisher":"Microbiology Society","issue":"9","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2010,9,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>Two clinical<jats:italic>Aeromonas<\/jats:italic>strains (A2-50<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>and A2-67<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>) recovered from the wounds of two patients in Taiwan could not be assigned to any known species of this genus based on their 16S rRNA gene sequences, which showed similarities of 99.6\u201399.8\u200a% to those of the type strains of<jats:italic>Aeromonas caviae<\/jats:italic>,<jats:italic>A. trota<\/jats:italic>and<jats:italic>A. aquariorum<\/jats:italic>. The<jats:italic>rpoD<\/jats:italic>phylogenetic tree allocated these strains to two novel and independent phylogenetic lines, the neighbouring species being<jats:italic>A. caviae<\/jats:italic>, the type strain of which showed 93.2\u200a% similarity (56\u2005bp differences) to strain A2-50<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>and 92.2\u200a% (63\u2005bp differences) to strain A2-67<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>. A multilocus phylogenetic analysis of five housekeeping genes (<jats:italic>gyrB<\/jats:italic>,<jats:italic>rpoD<\/jats:italic>,<jats:italic>recA<\/jats:italic>,<jats:italic>dnaJ<\/jats:italic>and<jats:italic>gyrA<\/jats:italic>; 3684\u2005bp) confirmed that the two strains formed independent phylogenetic lineages within the genus. These data, together with phenotypic characterization and DNA\u2013DNA reassociation results, revealed that these strains represent novel<jats:italic>Aeromonas<\/jats:italic>species, for which the names<jats:italic>Aeromonas taiwanensis<\/jats:italic>sp. nov. (type strain A2-50<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>=CECT 7403<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>=LMG 24683<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>) and<jats:italic>Aeromonas sanarellii<\/jats:italic>sp. nov. (type strain A2-67<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>=CECT 7402<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>=LMG 24682<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>) are
