This strain was a Gram-reaction-negative, rod-shaped bacterium that grew optimally at 25 \u00b0C and at pH 6.0\u20137.0 and had a DNA G+C content of 55.0 mol%. Ubiquinone 8 (UQ-8) was the predominant respiratory quinone and the major fatty acids were C<jats:sub>16\u200a:\u200a0<\/jats:sub>, C<jats:sub>17\u200a:\u200a0<\/jats:sub> cyclo, summed feature 3 (C<jats:sub>16\u200a:\u200a1<\/jats:sub>\u03c96<jats:italic>c<\/jats:italic> and\/or \u03c97<jats:italic>c<\/jats:italic> and\/or C<jats:sub>15\u200a:\u200a0<\/jats:sub> iso 2-OH) and C<jats:sub>18\u200a:\u200a1<\/jats:sub>\u03c97<jats:italic>c<\/jats:italic>. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain A2-57<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> belonged to the family <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"family\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.1699\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Oxalobacteraceae<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content>\n                  <jats:italic\/> and formed a distinct branch with <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.22498\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Glaciimonas immobilis<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> Cr9-30<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>. Strain A2-57<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> shared approximately 97.3\u200a% 16S rRNA sequence similarity with <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.22498\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>G. immobilis<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> Cr9-30<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> and also showed high sequence similarity with members of the genera <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"genus\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.1705\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Herbaspirillum<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> (96.3\u201397.0\u200a%) and <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"genus\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.8548\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Collimonas<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> (96.2\u201397.0\u200a%). Although phylogenetically closely related to the type strain of <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.22498\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>G. immobilis<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content>, the low level of DNA\u2013DNA hybridization between the two strains (21.6\u200a%) and several physiological and biochemical properties indicated that the novel strain could be clearly distinguished from <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.22498\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>G. immobilis<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> LMG 25547<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>. Therefore, it is concluded that strain A2-57<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> represents a novel species of the genus <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"genus\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.22497\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Glaciimonas<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content>, for which the name <jats:italic>Glaciimonas singularis<\/jats:italic> sp. nov. is proposed.
