The major respiratory quinone was demethylmenaquinone DMK-7, C<jats:sub>18\u200a:\u200a1<\/jats:sub> cis9 was the predominant fatty acid, phosphatidylglycerol was the predominant polar lipid, the cell wall contained <jats:italic>meso<\/jats:italic>-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid and the G+C content of the genomic DNA was 74.1 mol%. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the closest phylogenetic neighbours of strain I11<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> were <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.22885\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Patulibacter ginsengiterrae<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> CECT 7603<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> (96.8\u200a% similarity), <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.9872\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Patulibacter minatonensis<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> DSM 18081<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> (96.6\u200a%) and <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.13522\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Patulibacter americanus<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> DSM 16676<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> (96.6\u200a%). Phenotypic characterization supports the inclusion of strain I11<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> within the genus <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"genus\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.9873\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Patulibacter<\/jats:italic> (phylum Actinobacteria)<\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content>\n                  <jats:italic>.<\/jats:italic> However, distinctive features and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis suggest that is represents a novel species, for which the name <jats:italic>Patulibacter medicamentivorans<\/jats:italic> sp. nov. is proposed.
