Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that this organism represented one distinct branch within the family <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"family\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.8222\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Sphingobacteriaceae<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content>, most closely related to the genus <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"genus\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.11437\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Mucilaginibacter<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content>. Strain M47C3B<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> formed a distinct lineage, closely related to <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.20330\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Mucilaginibacter dorajii<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> KACC 14556<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>, with which it shared 97.2\u200a% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. The other members of the genus <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"genus\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.11437\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Mucilaginibacter<\/jats:italic> \n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content>included in the same clade were <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.20294\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Mucilaginibacter lappiensis<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> ATCC BAA-1855<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> sharing 97.0\u200a% similarity and <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" content-type=\"species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                     <jats:ext-link ext-link-type=\"uri\" xlink:href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1601\/nm.22642\" xlink:type=\"simple\">\n                        <jats:italic>Mucilaginibacter composti<\/jats:italic>\n                     <\/jats:ext-link>\n                  <\/jats:named-content> TR6-03<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> that had a lower similarity (95.7\u200a%). The novel strain was Gram-staining-negative, formed rod-shaped cells, grew optimally at 26 \u00b0C and at pH 7, and was able to grow with up to 0.3\u200a% (w\/v) NaCl. The respiratory quinone was menaquinone 7 (MK-7) and the major fatty acids of the strain were summed feature 3 (C<jats:sub>16\u200a:\u200a1<\/jats:sub>\u03c97<jats:italic>c<\/jats:italic>\/iso-C<jats:sub>15\u200a:\u200a0<\/jats:sub> 2-OH), iso-C<jats:sub>15\u200a:\u200a0<\/jats:sub> and iso-C<jats:sub>17\u200a:\u200a0<\/jats:sub> 3-OH, representing 73.5\u200a% of the total fatty acids. The major components of the polar lipid profile of strain M47C3B<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, three unidentified aminophospholipids, one unidentified aminolipid and three unidentified polar lipids. The G+C content of the DNA was 40.6 mol%. On the basis of the phylogenetic analysis and physiological and biochemical characteristics we propose the name <jats:italic>Mucilaginibacter pineti<\/jats:italic> sp. nov. for the novel species represented by strain M47C3B<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup> (\u200a=\u200aCIP 110632<jats:sup>T<\/jats:sup>\u200a=\u200aLMG
