Compounds (<jats:bold>2<\/jats:bold>), (<jats:bold>3<\/jats:bold>) and (<jats:bold>4<\/jats:bold>) are isomorphous and accordingly their molecular and supramolecular structures are similar. An analysis of the dihedral angles between the purine and exocyclic phenyl rings show that the molecules of (<jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>) and (<jats:bold>5<\/jats:bold>) are essentially planar but that in the case of the three isomorphous compounds (<jats:bold>2<\/jats:bold>), (<jats:bold>3<\/jats:bold>) and (<jats:bold>4<\/jats:bold>), these rings are twisted by a dihedral angle of approximately 38\u00b0. With the exception of (<jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>) all molecules are linked by weak C\u2014H...O hydrogen bonds in their crystals. There is \u03c0\u2013\u03c0 stacking in all compounds.
