{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,8,2]],"date-time":"2025-08-02T17:50:45Z","timestamp":1754157045369,"version":"3.41.2"},"reference-count":8,"publisher":"Emerald","issue":"7\/8","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2012,8,3]],"date-time":"2012-08-03T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1343952000000},"content-version":"tdm","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/www.emerald.com\/insight\/site-policies"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2012,8,3]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Purpose<\/jats:title><jats:p>The purpose of this paper is to study the superior relationship among the parameters of age, casual blood pressure and 24\u2010hour ambulatory blood pressure with left atrial and ventricular structure and left ventricular filling function in systolic hypertensives (SH).<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Design\/methodology\/approach<\/jats:title><jats:p>A total of 30 male and seven female patients aged from 46\u201074 (averaged at 59\u00b17) years with stage I\u223cII systolic hypertension were studied. The criterion of the subjects was SBP \u2265 160\u2009mmHg and DBP &lt; 95\u2009mmHg or SBP \u2265 2 \u00d7 (DBP\u201015\u2009mmHg) and DBP\u226595\u2009mmHg. The parameters acted as independent variables were: age, casual systolic and diastolic blood pressure (CSBP and CDBP) and 24\u2010hour ambulatory systolic and diastolic blood pressure (ASBP24 and ADBP24). The parameters acted as dependent variables were ratio of the early rapid filling peak flow velocity and late atrial contractive filling peak flow velocity below the mitral valve on the pulsed\u2010wave spectral Doppler echocardiography (LAD\/AoD). The collected data were analyzed via the superior grey relational analyses.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Findings<\/jats:title><jats:p>The results showed that the superior grey relational order in independent variables was ASBP24 &gt; ADBP24 &gt; CSBP &gt; CDBP &gt; age and the superior grey relational order in dependent variables was LAD\/AoD &gt; MVe\/a &gt; LVMI.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Originality\/value<\/jats:title><jats:p>Among the independent variables ASBP24 is the most important factor of affecting the cardiac structure and function in SH. The first cardiac variation in SH is the left atrial structure affected by the independent variables.
