{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,8,2]],"date-time":"2025-08-02T17:52:45Z","timestamp":1754157165758,"version":"3.41.2"},"reference-count":22,"publisher":"Emerald","issue":"2","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2011,6,14]],"date-time":"2011-06-14T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1308009600000},"content-version":"tdm","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/www.emerald.com\/insight\/site-policies"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2011,6,14]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Purpose<\/jats:title><jats:p>The purpose of the evaluation described in this paper is to determine the usability of the services provided by the EBSCO<jats:italic>host Mobile<\/jats:italic> application.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Design\/methodology\/approach<\/jats:title><jats:p>The methodology employed was usability testing, comprising pre\u2010 and post\u2010usability test questionnaires and \u201cthink out\u2010loud\u201d usability tests.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Findings<\/jats:title><jats:p>Recommendations are made concerning changes to the interface to ensure greater usability.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Research limitations\/implications<\/jats:title><jats:p>In this study, the only mobile device used in the testing of EBSCO<jats:italic>host Mobile<\/jats:italic> was the iPhone 3GS. None of the participants had used or owned a smartphone previously.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Originality\/value<\/jats:title><jats:p>Libraries are increasingly turning to the Mobile Web to offer new services to their patrons.
