This paper also provides a framework and analysis of current efforts in the automotive, financial services, retail, technology, and transportation sectors.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Design\/methodology\/approach<\/jats:title><jats:p>The paper uses a qualitative experimental design, case\u2010study approach. Companies are compared across a variety of factors affecting E\u2010SCM.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Findings<\/jats:title><jats:p>There is little evidence to support that the size of a firm's revenues correlate to the effectiveness of their E\u2010SCM efforts.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Research limitations\/implications<\/jats:title><jats:p>The research uses a limited number of companies. Additionally, the web sites were evaluated only to the extent which they were made publicly available.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Practical implications<\/jats:title><jats:p>An overview and discussion of E\u2010SCM is presented. This paper also analyzes selected companies' current web initiatives in the automotive, financial services, retail, technology, and transportation sectors.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Originality\/value<\/jats:title><jats:p>This paper uses an original framework to analyze E\u2010SCM initiatives.
