Interviews with nine senior\/middle managers from Australian manufacturing and service organisations revealed the growing awareness of the impact of their products and processes on the ecological and social environments. Moreover, implementation of an EMS or waste management system (WMS) is accepted as a learning curve by both the organisation and its stakeholders, including its employees. Organisations at the same time are also contemplating the need for certifying their existing EMS against international standards such as ISO 14001 based on the cost\u2010benefits resulting from the certification.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1108\/14637150310468362","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2003,6,16]],"date-time":"2003-06-16T19:12:52Z","timestamp":1055790772000},"page":"133-148","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":28,"title":["Stakeholder involvement in the EMS adoption process"],"prefix":"10.1108","volume":"9","author":[{"given":"Ambika","family":"Zutshi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Amrik S.","family":"Sohal","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"140","reference":[{"key":"key2022013119564769400_b1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","unstructured":"Affisco, J., Nasri, F. and Paknejad, M.J.
