Using XML technologies helps to develop a learning environment which can be useful for academics when designing web\u2010based courses, preparing the materials and then reusing them.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Findings<\/jats:title><jats:p>The paper discusses the benefits of using XML for developing computer\u2010based courses. The task of introducing new versions of existing courses can be reduced to editing appropriate XML files without any need for program change and an author can perform this task easily from a computer connected to the internet.
