{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,8,2]],"date-time":"2025-08-02T18:05:11Z","timestamp":1754157911806,"version":"3.41.2"},"reference-count":17,"publisher":"Emerald","issue":"3","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2011,8,30]],"date-time":"2011-08-30T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1314662400000},"content-version":"tdm","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/www.emerald.com\/insight\/site-policies"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":[],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2011,8,30]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Purpose<\/jats:title><jats:p>The purpose of this paper is to reduce the waiting time on webcast for selective contents, by proposing a scheduling method called the \u201ccontents prefetched broadcasting considering user participation\u201d (CPB\u2010CP) method.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Design\/methodology\/approach<\/jats:title><jats:p>The authors analyze and evaluate the performance of the proposed CPB\u2010CP method.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Findings<\/jats:title><jats:p>It is confirmed that the proposed method gives shorter average waiting time than the conventional methods.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Research limitations\/implications<\/jats:title><jats:p>A future direction of this study will involve making a scheduling method in the case where the playing time of each content item is different.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-heading\">Practical implications<\/jats:title><jats:p>In selective contents delivery, users may wait for the next bit of content to start playing after watching the previous one.
