This paper aims to investigate the relationship between psychological <jats:italic>suzhi<\/jats:italic> and internet addiction among college students.<\/jats:p>\n<\/jats:sec>\n<jats:sec>\n<jats:title content-type=\"abstract-subheading\">Design\/methodology\/approach<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>Using the college student psychological <jats:italic>suzhi<\/jats:italic> scale and internet addiction test, 2,070 college students from 11 universities in North China, East China, South China and Southwest China were tested.<\/jats:p>\n<\/jats:sec>\n<jats:sec>\n<jats:title content-type=\"abstract-subheading\">Findings<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>The detection rate of internet addiction in this college sample of students was 18.8%. There was a significant negative correlation between students\u2019 psychological <jats:italic>suzhi<\/jats:italic> and internet addiction (r = \u22120.408, <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic> &lt; 0.01). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that adaptability and individuality in psychological <jats:italic>suzhi<\/jats:italic> significantly negatively predicted college students\u2019 internet addiction tendency (<jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic> &lt; 0.001).<\/jats:p>\n<\/jats:sec>\n<jats:sec>\n<jats:title content-type=\"abstract-subheading\">Originality\/value<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>This study is the first to show a relationship between psychological <jats:italic>suzhi<\/jats:italic> and internet addiction in college students. In detail, the adaptability and individuality of college students\u2019 psychological <jats:italic>suzhi<\/jats:italic> are protective factors related to internet addiction. The results also suggested that the authors can prevent and intervene in internet addiction by modifying college students\u2019 adaptability and
