The data set collects the information of mobile internet users.
</jats:sec>
<jats:sec>
Findings
– The authors have concluded that UTAUT2 model obtains a better explanation power than the rest of technology acceptance models (TAMs) in the sample of mobile internet users. Furthermore, all models have a better explanation power using non-linear relationships than the traditional linear approach.
</jats:sec>
<jats:sec>
Originality/value
– The vast majority of research published to date with regard to the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) are based on structural equation models assuming linear relationships between variables. The originality of this study is that it incorporates non-linear relationships and compares the same models using both approaches.
</jats:sec>
[[2015,7,7
["A comparison of the different versions of popular technology acceptance models
Ajzen, I.
(1991), “The theory of planned behaviour”,
Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes
, Vol. 50 No. 2, pp. 179-211.
10.1016/0749-5978(91)90020-T
key2020122420454503900_b2
Ajzen, I.
and
Fishbein, M.
(1980),
Understanding Attitudes and Predicting Social Behavior
, Prentice-Hall, Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
key2020122420454503900_b3
Bauer, J.
and
Kenton, J.
(2005), “Toward technology integration in schools: why it isn’t happening”,
Journal of Technology and Teacher Education
, Vol. 13 No. 4, pp. 519-546.
key2020122420454503900_b4
crossref
Cariou, V.
,
Verdun, S.
and
Qannari, E.M.
(2014), “Quadratic PLS regression applied to external preference mapping”,
Food Quality and Preference
, Vol. 32, March, pp. 28-34.
10.1016/j.foodqual.2013.07.003
key2020122420454503900_b5
Davis, F.D.
(1986),
A Technology Acceptance Model for Empirically Testing New End-User Information Systems: Theory and Results
, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA.
key2020122420454503900_b6
crossref
Davis, F.D.
(1989), “Perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and user acceptance of information technology”,
MIS Quarterly
, Vol. 13 No. 3, pp. 319-340.
10.2307/249008
key2020122420454503900_b7
Drucker, M.J.
(2006), “Commentary: crossing the digital divide: how race, class, and culture matter”,
Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education
, Vol. 6 No. 1, pp. 43-45.
key2020122420454503900_b9
Fishbein, M.
and
Ajzen, I.
(1975),
Belief, Attitude, Intention, and Behavior: An Introduction to Theory and Research
, Addison-Wesley, Reading, MA.
key2020122420454503900_b10
crossref
Franklin, C.A.
and
Molebash, P.E.
(2007), “Technology in the elementary social studies classroom: teacher preparation does matter”,
Theory and Research in Social Education
, Vol. 35 No. 2, pp. 153-173.
10.1080/00933104.2007.10473331
key2020122420454503900_b11
Gefen, D.
,
Straub, D.W.
and
Boudreau, M.C.
(2000), “Structural equation modeling and regression: guide-lines for research practice”,
Communications of the AIS
, Vol. 4 No. 7, pp. 1-77.
key2020122420454503900_b12
crossref
Haenlein, M.
and
Kaplan, A.M.
(2004), “A beginner’s guide to partial least squares analysis”,
Understanding Statistics
, Vol. 3 No. 4, pp. 283-297.
Hair, F.J.
