Main outcome measures included VF, VA and complications.<\/jats:p><jats:p><jats:bold>Results:\u2002<\/jats:bold> Postoperative VF mean deviation scores improved (<jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic>\u2003= 0.03) within 6\u2003months when compared with preoperative VF. Multiple regression analysis demonstrated that eyes with mean deviation\u2003\u2265\u2003\u221220\u2003dB were associated with improved or stabilized VA at 6\u2003months, odds ratio 7.5 and confidence interval (1.2, 46.1), <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic>\u2003=\u20030.03. Eyes with VF defects outside 10\u00b0 of fixation were associated with improved or stabilized VF at 6\u2003months odds ratio 9.7, 95% confidence interval 1.1, 85.9, <jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic>\u2003=\u20030.04. Five patients developed self\u2010limiting complications from surgery.<\/jats:p><jats:p><jats:bold>Conclusions:\u2002<\/jats:bold> Optic nerve sheath fenestration is safe and effective in stabilizing or improving VF and VA in the short to medium term.
