Halftimes of recovery of total cholinesterase in the brain tissues ranged from 0\u00b79 to 3\u00b78 days (av = 2\u00b75 days) and acetylcholinesterase recovery halftimes ranged from 1\u00b72 to 5\u00b73 days (av = 3\u00b76 days).<\/jats:p><jats:p>Regeneration of total cholinesterase was also followed in subcellular fractions of guinea\u2010pig and rat brains after similar inhibition. In both species, the fastest recovery occurred in the soluble fraction with halftimes of 1\u00b78 and 1\u00b76 days, while the synaptosomal fractions exhibited the slowest recoveries with halftimes of 8\u00b73 and 4\u00b71 days.
