Two out of five birds harboured\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">B<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      .\u2009turdi\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    infected\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">I<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      xodes frontalis\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    at the time of capture. Four out of five birds transmitted spirochaetes to\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">I<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      xodes ricinus\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    xenodiagnostic ticks: two birds transmitted\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">B<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      orrelia valaisiana\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    to 25.7% and 10.5% of ticks, and two transmitted\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">B<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      .\u2009turdi\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    to 6.4% and 5.4% of ticks. Our results showed that blackbirds transmit\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">B<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      .\u2009valaisiana\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    and\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">B<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      .\u2009turdi\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    to\n                    <jats:italic>\n                      <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">I<\/jats:styled-content>\n                      .\u2009ricinus\n                    <\/jats:italic>\n                    feeding larvae, acting as reservoir hosts for these genospecies in nature.\n
