Phosphorylation at serine\u2010105, which is located in the globular region of H1, was found to reduce the enthalpy of structure formation from 24 \u00b1 2 kcal mol<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup> (100 \u00b1 8 kJ mol<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>) to 13 \u00b1 2 kcal mol<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup> (55 \u00b1 8 kJ mol<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>).
