{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,10,18]],"date-time":"2025-10-18T10:24:27Z","timestamp":1760783067161},"reference-count":47,"publisher":"Wiley","issue":"1","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2008,9,18]],"date-time":"2008-09-18T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1221696000000},"content-version":"vor","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/termsAndConditions#vor"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Annals of Human Genetics"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2009,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Summary<\/jats:title><jats:p>The male\u2010mediated genetic legacy of the Pyrenean population was assessed through the analysis of 12 Y\u2010STR and 27 Y\u2010SNP loci in a sample of 169 males from 5 main geographical areas in the Spanish Pyrenees: Cinco Villas (Western Pyrenees), Jacetania and Valle de Ar\u00e1n (Central Pyrenees) and Alto Urgel and Cerda\u00f1a (Eastern Pyrenees). In the Iberian context, the Pyrenean samples present some specificities, being characterizeded by a high proportion of chromosomes R1b1b2\u2010M269 (including the usually uncommon R1b1b2d\u2010SRY<jats:sub>2627<\/jats:sub> and R1b1b2c\u2010M153 types) or I2a2\u2010M26 and low proportions of other haplogroups. Our results indicate that an old pre\u2010Neolithic substrate is preponderant in populations of the whole Pyrenean fringe.
