Twenty\u2010seven cases of pregnancy\u2010related deaths caused by injuries were identified<\/jats:p><jats:p><jats:bold>Main outcome measures\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/jats:bold> Proportion of deaths due to homicide, suicide, and accidents in pregnant women or within 42 days after termination of pregnancy<\/jats:p><jats:p><jats:bold>Results\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/jats:bold> Ten cases were due to alleged homicide, nine to alleged suicide and six to alleged accident. Fifty\u2010nine percent (16\/27) of women suffering an injury\u2010related maternal death were younger than 25 years of age. Eighty\u2010five percent of pregnancies were less than 28 weeks of gestational age.
