A focus was put on learning as an important factor to measure performance. Subjects were asked to find induced errors in a mechanical product using different display solutions; an Immersive Workbench, a Desktop-VR system and a Desktop system. Results show that Immersive Displays can support the designers in product development. In terms of detection times, subjects using Desktop-VR with stereoscopic glasses performed best, but difference is not significant. No difference was found between the treatments as regards the number of successful trials.
[[2004,5,28
["Immersive Visual Interfaces–Assessing Usability by the Effects of Learning/Results from an Empirical Study
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Division of Machine Design, Linko¨pings universitet, SE-581 83 LINKO¨PING, Sweden
Department of Science and Technology, Scientific Visualisation Group, Linko¨pings universitet, SE-601 74 NORRKO¨PING, Sweden
[[2004,5,28
2019100612292455000_r1
Johansson, P., 2001, “Choosing the Best Visualisation Tool in Engineering Design–Comparing High-Immersive VR with Desktop-VR,” Proceedings of the13thInternational Conference on Engineering Design, Glasgow, UK.
Roozenburg, N.F.M., and Eekels, J., 1995, Product Design: Fundamentals and Methods, Wiley, Chichetser.
2019100612292455000_r6
Andreasen, M.M., and Hein, L., 1987, Integrated Product Development, IFS Publications Ltd., Springer Verlag, London.
2019100612292455000_r7
Olsson, K.-O.
