We propose elements for a new standard for the resulting interface. The fully automatic transfer of knowledge would require a shared engineering ontology. We suggest something less ambitious, namely to make only part of the knowledge machine-intelligible, such as a number embedded in a rule. This proposal still requires a human to code the knowledge from the source into the application. However, it would allow the application to automatically handle some updates to the knowledge sources. We discuss the details of a formalism to describe the machine-intelligible part of the knowledge; we suggest some meta-data; and we clarify the relationship of the proposal to existing standards.
[[2006,2,23
["Elements of an Interface Standard for Knowledge Sources in Knowledge-Based Engineering
Knowledge-Based Engineering Systems, Ford Motor Company, Fairlane Office Center 1, Suite 451, 6 Parklane Boulevard, Dearborn, MI 48121
Knowledge-Based Engineering Systems, Ford Motor Company, Fairlane Office Center 1, Suite 451, 6 Parklane Boulevard, Dearborn, MI 48121
[[2005,6,10
The Rise of the Expert Company: How Visionary Companies Are Using Artificial Intelligence to Achieve Higher Productivity and Profits
Kitamura, Y., et al., 2003, “Deployment of an Ontological Framework of Functional Design Knowledge,” Technical Report No. AI-TR-2003-2, I.S.I.R., Osaka University, http://www.ei.sanken.osaka-u.ac.jp/pub/kita-dep-03.pdf
Carlisle, D., et al., 2001, Mathematical Markup Language (MathML) Version 2.0, http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-MathML2-20010221/
2019100519204401700_c9
Genesereth, M., et al., 1998, Knowledge Interchange Format, American National Standard NCITS.
